Open House at Xyna International
The agenda of the Open House was to:
  • Provide an opportunity for invitees to meet staff and take a guided school tour
  • Special one on one guidance on education plans for students
  • Provide understanding of Canadian High School Education System
The Open House provided parents, invitees and guests with an opportunity to take a tour of school, visit classrooms, labs and informally meet teachers.
There were free gifts for everyone attending the open house along with special promotional offers.
It was well – attended and overall a successful event.

Ladak Chiropractic Health Centre
Ladak Chiropractic Health Centre was celebrating The Winter Olympics from February 9 to February 28, 2018.
Students of Xyna visited the Health Centre and joined in the exercises being demonstrated there. Students also attended the informative session on quick and easy ways to stay active.

Trip to Casa Loma
The students of Xyna visited Canada’s Majestic Castle, Casa Loma and stepped back in time to a period of European elegance and splendour.
The students had a wonderful time visiting this Gothic Revival Style house and gardens in Toronto.

Poetry Competition
“Poetry is language at its most distilled and most powerful.”
Students of Xyna set their imagination and creativity free by participating in Poem Writing Competition.
They chose ‘Today’s Youth’ or ‘Social Cause’ as theme of their poems.
Ankit Bhardwaj was the winner and was presented with a certificate and a medal.

Visit to William Osler Hospital
Students visited William Osler Hospital to learn and understand courses required to become a technician. They also learned about NMR technology, MRI Technology, X-ray technology, CT scanning. The hospital representative showed students how they operate machines and also showed Lead aprons. They explained what all can be diagnosed by the machines.

Restaurant Project
Teachers and students of Xyna organised an Awareness Campaign by creating a “Restaurant for a day” that followed ‘Eating Well with Canada’s Food Guide’. As a part of the project, students planned and designed a special menu card, set up a table for two guests as per restaurant style. Major learning experience centered on nutrition, menu planning, and food buying, preparation and food safety and making healthy food choices.

Trip to Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives
Xyna International planned a trip to PAMA and gave their students an opportunity to explore Ontario’s unique landscapes, learn about the many generations of people who have settled here and understand the experiences that connect us to one another.

Euclid Contest ; Hypatia Contest
Experience says learning mathematics can be made easier and enjoyable if our curriculum includes mathematical activities and games. Maths puzzles and riddles encourage and attract an alert and open-minded attitude among youngsters and help them develop clarity in their thinking. Taking this thought forward, students of grade 11 and 12 participated in Hypatia and Euclid Contest organised by Waterloo University.

End Plastic Pollution(Self-awareness initiative)
It was a self-awareness practicum in which students of Xyna calculated their plastic consumption in a year. As a follow up activity students made a plan to initiate how they can reduce/eliminate plastic consumption.

Talk on Know Your Rights at Work
Representatives from the Centre of Education and Training came over at Xyna and gave a presentation about Employment Standards Act. The purview of the talk covered topics like hours of work, overtime, vacation, public holiday pay, health and safety at work, work place discrimination.

X-Design Competition
The competition was held to celebrate Earth Day as an extension of End Plastic Pollution—a self-awareness initiative practicum. Students were expected to create useful products by reusing plastic bottles. All the students participated with extraordinary zeal and enthusiasm. They created and show cased a variety of products ranging from thermometer, electroscope to working models of heart and many more.

Talk on “Substance Abuse”
Terisa Bernard from YSAP visited Xyna and educated students on Youth Substance Abuse Program. She talked about physical, psychological and scientific reasoning that motivates a user to use. She also laid emphasis on understanding addiction with special focus on its prevention, treatment and recovery.

Speech Competition
Speech Competitions help students develop skills in research, critical thinking, organization, persuasion and communication. These skills also benefit students after high school. Speech Competition was held at Xyna where students shared their views on myriad of topics like CPR, community work, future of earth.
The winners Gurshabad Wazir and Maanvi Mallik were awarded with medals and certificates.

Picnic to High Park, Toronto
Picnics are important as they release the stress in the child and contribute towards the personality development of the child. The students and teachers of Xyna had a fun filled day at High Park in Toronto where they enjoyed all the sporting, cultural and educational facilities of the park. The main objective of such picnics is that students get to know one another and teachers get to know their students in out of class context.

Information Night
Information night was held on June 01, 2018 between 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. It gave visitors a chance to meet the school administrative staff one to one and know about the facilities and functioning of the school in a better way.

Trip to Wonderland
The most awaited trip of the year to Canada’s Wonderland was students’ favourite and everyone enjoyed. It was organised after the final exams were over which made it all the more fun and enjoyable.

Graduation Day/Year End Annual Event
An event to celebrate completion of another successful year and wishing Good Luck to graduating students was organised at Chris Gibson Recreation Centre. The event started with the Principal, Ms. Sethi’s speech followed by a presentation about the introduction, philosophy and vision of the school by the Vice Principal Ms. Gupta. The students became nostalgic looking at the presentation showing the school year activities. Awards were presented to the deserving students in various categories and the graduating students were presented with their diplomas. The evening created a lot of memories for the students and teachers to cherish life long and ended with a wonderful dinner.
Celebrations corner at Xyna
A celebrations corner was created at Xyna Campus with the thought that a child becomes largely what it is taught; hence we must watch what we teach it, and how we live before it.
